// the questions we get asked the most

what is KYC and why avoid it?
KYC ("Know Your Customer") is a regulatory process where exchanges demand personal documents (ID, selfie, proof of address) to "verify" users. While framed as anti-fraud, KYC creates centralized databases of sensitive data that get leaked, hacked, and sold. No-KYC services preserve the original promise of crypto: peer-to-peer cash without surveillance.
is using no-KYC exchanges legal?
In most jurisdictions, yes. KYC is a regulation applied to *exchanges*, not to *users*. You are not required to identify yourself to use a non-custodial swap service. Always check your local laws — this is not legal advice.
how do you decide what to list?
We evaluate exchanges on (1) no-KYC enforcement, (2) custody model (non-custodial preferred), (3) operational history, (4) community feedback, and (5) onion availability. Listings are not paid — referral links pay us but never influence ranking.
why do I need an account if you preach privacy?
You don't — browsing is fully anonymous. Accounts exist only to post reviews and bind a PGP key so the community can verify identity continuity across reviews. No email, no phone, no real name. Ever.
how does PGP verification work?
After registration, paste your PGP public key in your profile. To get the ✓ badge, sign a challenge message we provide. From then on, you can PGP-sign your reviews so readers can cryptographically verify they came from the same identity.
can I use Tor to access neverkyc.io?
Yes. We don't log IPs, don't use trackers, and serve fine over Tor. An onion mirror is in the works.
what is monero and why do you push it?
Monero (XMR) is a cryptocurrency where sender, receiver, and amounts are private by default. Unlike Bitcoin's transparent ledger, XMR transactions can't be traced by chain analysis. It's the gold standard for digital cash.
how do I report a scam or dead exchange?
Post a review with the relevant details, or contact us via the link in the footer. Repeated scam reports lead to a "warning" or "scam" status on the listing.
